Our Mission

Our mission is to faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, make disciples, and help people grow in a genuine relationship with God. As a local church, we seek to be a place where people can experience the transforming power of God’s Word, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the love of Christ. We are committed to reaching our community, strengthening families, equipping believers to serve, and living out the truth of Scripture so that our lives and our church may point others to Jesus Christ.

You

We want you to know that you are loved, valued, and welcome here. Whether you are searching for answers, looking for a church home, or seeking to grow closer to God, there is a place for you among us. Our desire is to help you discover God’s purpose for your life and become all that He has called you to be.

Us

We believe we are better together. As a church family, we are committed to encouraging one another, strengthening families, serving our community, and growing together in faith. We want to be a church where people belong, build meaningful relationships, discover their gifts, and find opportunities to serve God and others.

Him

Everything we do is ultimately about Jesus Christ. We exist to know Him, worship Him, follow His Word, and make Him known. Our greatest desire is for His presence to be among us and for our lives, our families, and our church to bring glory to Him. We don't simply want to go where God has promised—we want to go wherever His presence leads us.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are grounded in the Word of God and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for our faith, doctrine, and daily living. These truths shape who we are as a church and guide us in how we worship, serve, and live. We invite you to explore what we believe and discover the biblical foundation behind the faith we hold dear.

Loving God. Loving People.

Our Pastor

God has given us a pastor to serve, guide, teach, and encourage His people. Our pastor is committed to faithfully following God’s Word, caring for the congregation, and helping each person grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe biblical leadership is not about position or recognition, but about serving others with humility, integrity, love, and a desire to see God’s will accomplished in the lives of His people.

Pastor Chris Anders

Chris Anders serves as the pastor of The Church of God in Marion, Virginia, a congregation that holds a special place in his heart and his family’s story. He and his wife, Sarah, were married in 2014 at this local church, and they now have an 11-year-old son, Sam. After years of ministry and service, the Anders family is grateful to be serving the Lord together in the same community where their marriage began.

Pastor Chris has been actively serving as a pastor since 2016, having pastored congregations in Covington, Virginia, and Cleveland, Tennessee, before returning to Marion. Throughout his years of ministry, his passion has remained the same: to faithfully preach the Word of God, care for people, and help individuals and families grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Chris spent five years serving at The Church of God’s International General Headquarters. This experience gave him a broader understanding of the work of the Church and strengthened his desire to serve both the local congregation and the Church as a whole.

Chris is also a registered nurse, bringing to his ministry a heart for caring for people in both practical and spiritual ways. His background in healthcare, pastoral ministry, and administrative service has given him a unique perspective on serving others and meeting people where they are.

Above all, Pastor Chris desires to see the presence of God at the center of the church. His heart is to lead the congregation in faithfulness to the Word of God, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to help people discover and fulfill God’s purpose for their lives. Together with Sarah and Sam, he is thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and the people of Marion and the surrounding community.
